I am interested in studying spinal cord plasticity using a spinal cord injury (SCI) mouse model. Specifically, I have been exploiting molecular targets that may enhance axon compensatory sprouting or regeneration of corticospinal tract (CST) motor neurons following SCI injury in vivo. Additionally, I am interested in exploring the mechanism of growth of these targets in vitro using a cortical neuron culture model. When I’m not in the lab you can find me out exploring the great outdoors.
Noa Golan
Graduate student
Noa graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience in 2016. During her undergraduate studies, her research focused on the effects of stress on cognitive function. Since joining the Cafferty Lab in 2018, she has been using single-cell RNA-sequencing to uncover the cellular diversity of spinally-projecting motor neurons and to understand cell subtype-specific plasticity after injury. When she’s not in the lab, Noa is a proud puppy mom, an amateur baker, and an avid cycler.
